Since its inception in 1994 The banana has underwent many transitions. It has grown from a small boutique bar to a popular night spot and meeting place for tourists and locals. The incredible Flamboyant tree was planted many years ago and has enjoyed it’s vantage from a mere twig to a towering icon of Grand Bay. Along with the miraculous growth of this magnificent creature, the evolution of the Banana has taken on gigantic proportions of notoriety itself. Since 2003 it was our vision to rejuvenate the music scene and transform the Banana into ‘the place’ in Mauritius for live music. Weekends are ‘made’ for music and every weekend music from jazz, blues, to rock are performed at the Banana.
